[ABANDONED] Ambition of the Cosmic
AOTC has discontinued development. No further updates will be made for it.
It is up for adoption. No permission must be acquired. For the long explanation, find my announcement comments or check my Discord server.
This page will remain here indefinitely. I do not currently plan on taking on any co-owners/co-developers, so don't ask me for permission to continue updating this page's mod. If you want to continue AOTC, publish your own Workshop mod.

With that said...
== BEFORE USING ==
* AOTC is save-compatible.
* According to a commenter, if you're using the D9 Framework, you have to load it after AOTC.
== INTRODUCTION ==
"Science will never, ever come to an end. Even when we believe all the discoveries to have been made, there will still be yet more things to learn of our reality, of our condition, because some things will forever be beyond our reach, even if we don't know it."
"So why, if Science Never Stops, does the research?"
Welcome to Ambition of the Cosmic, previously known as Science Never Stops: Ambition of the Cosmic. This mod is a lengthy and very, very overpowered extension to the RimWorld late-game. It takes the original concept of Aion Algos' Science Never Stops, and turns it up to 11. You'll go through varying levels of hilarious overpoweredness, from crushing Cataphracts to wiping out hundreds-strong raids with a teen who never shot a gun before in his/her life.
The gameplay loop is rather simple, and boils down to trading for tons of plasteel and gold early on to produce everything, then eventually producing your own resources from nothing but time and labor. You go through three (or four, if you enable the True Pinnacle of Creation addon) tiers of technology, with a bunch of buildings, weapons, consumables, and other items for each of those tiers, until you are able to do pretty much anything effortlessly.
If you like being overpowered as all hell, this is your mod. If you like working hard to get to endgame and then laughing as you outpace your enemies even more than you already could in vanilla, this is your mod. If you like being even MORE overpowered, get TPOC. If you don't like patience-based resource generation and being able to crush your enemies without much effort, then I'm unsure why you got this far, but you should definitely avoid AOTC.
AOTC was originally made as a modification for SNS, so it shares a common codebase. That means you will not be able to use the two mods together.

The home of the (now-abandoned) AOTC v3.0 update. It will probably be recycled into another project eventually.

AOTC literally wouldn't have happened without the original. It's not been updated for a long time.

Want just the infinite research? Well, here it is.
== ADDONS ==
AOTC: True Pinnacle of Creation
Fourth-generation addon, not much content but you will be even more hilariously overpowered. Many zeroes were pressed.
AOTC: You're Going Too Far
A hilariously edgy reskin, with a bit of extra canonical lore related to the Cosmic Precursors.
AOTC: HAS SCIENCE GONE TOO FAR?!
A silly lore overhaul I came up on April Fool's 2021. Be an even worse person here.
== INTEGRATIONS ==
Elite Bionics Framework
If you are using EBF with AOTC, bionics will get massive increases in limb health. For best results, add a mod that removes lethal damage threshold.
No More Lethal Damage Threshold
Removes the arbitrary 150 damage cap that force-kills pawns. Pretty much mandatory when using EBF.
== HALL OF FAME ==
The following people, I deem to have helped me in AOTC in some way. Whether it was giving a bunch of ideas, helping fix a bug, or just motivating me to continue, I appreciate all of these people.
Malkav
Made several AOTC addons and compatibility patches, several of which I'd personally used!

Allowed me to use their assembly which enabled ranged personal shields. While I use a different one now, I still eternally appreciate their generosity.
Roll1D2 Games (youtube URL)
A bit of an outlier here, Roll1D2 provided motivation to me in the form of...simply making a series which included the mod. It felt absolutely amazing for somebody with a sizeable community to put a spotlight on AOTC, and I also got plenty of feedback and ideas from both him and his Discord server.

They were the idea behind a major update; v2.3, the addition of turrets. I was especially early in development at that time, so the feedback was especially appreciated.

They provided the code for the (now abandoned) Combat Extended patch, speeding up my development of it.
