🚄 The Story Behind the TGV
In the late 1960s, France began searching for a new way to revolutionize intercity travel. While airplanes were fast, time lost in airports — boarding, security, transfers — reduced their real advantage over medium distances.
The breakthrough prototype was the TGV 001, an experimental high-speed train powered by gas turbines. Gas turbines were chosen for their excellent power-to-weight ratio, inspired by aeronautical technology. The prototype proved that rail could compete with — and even outperform — jet traffic on routes between 400 and 800 km once total travel time was considered.
After the 1970s oil crisis, the concept shifted toward full electrification. This evolution led to the modern TGV: energy efficient, electrically powered, and capable of sustained speeds above 300 km/h.
High-speed rail didn’t just compete with aviation — it reshaped mobility.

⚙️ Mechanical Architecture
The TGV is not a traditional locomotive-hauled train.
It is built as a semi-articulated fixed trainset composed of:

2 Power Cars (one at each end)

A fixed set of passenger coaches between them
A typical configuration includes:

1st Class coaches

2nd Class coaches

A bar / restaurant coach
One of the most innovative elements is the shared bogie system.
Instead of each coach having two independent bogies, adjacent coaches share a single bogie between them. This design:

Reduces overall weight

Improves aerodynamic stability

Enhances safety at very high speeds

Lowers the center of gravity
Power is concentrated in the two power cars, ensuring optimal traction and balance. The entire trainset functions as a permanently coupled ensemble rather than a traditional wagon-by-wagon consist.

🎮 This Stormworks Creation
This build recreates that philosophy inside Stormworks.
The creation is divided into two modular components:

🚂 1 Power Car (Locomotive)

🚃 1 Articulated Railcar Module
You can assemble multiple railcars to create your own full trainset configuration — just like the real TGV concept.
Design goals:

Respect the semi-articulated inspiration

Maintain realistic weight distribution

Preserve modular ensemble structure

Capture the iconic aerodynamic profile
This is not just a visual replica — it is an engineering-inspired recreation.

🛠️ How To Use
Follow these steps to operate the train properly:

Sit in the driver seat.

Start the systems using the left key. (Mandatory)

Choose your ambiance lighting. (Optional)

Select the maximum speed you want to reach. (Mandatory)

Release the brakes using the right handle.

Use the traction selector to reach a percentage of your selected maximum speed.
