Dimorphism

This is a very simple mod that adds configurable intrinsic stat buffs to all humanoid pawns based on gender. All buffs are configurable via the mod config menu. This mod can be safely added to or removed from any existing save with no lasting effects, and works with or without Biotech. Default Buffs: For men: - 10% buff to skill learning speed for: Mining, Construction, Melee and Shooting - 30% more carrying capacity - 10% less incoming damage, similar to the Tough trait but weaker - 10% higher pain shock threshold - 20% more body mass - 30% higher melee damage - 10% buff to movement speed - 30% greater mood boosts from alcohol For women: - 10% buff to skill learning speed for: Plants, Animals, Artistic, Medicine, Cooking and Social - Natural +1 beauty for all women, which predisposes people to like them* - Consume only 80% as many calories as men - Doubled mood buff for Biotech's "Happy Youngsters" moodlet - 30% greater mood boosts from Beauty and Comfort moodlets - 75% chance to replace a violent mental break with an Insulting Spree instead** *Beauty stat stacks with all other beauty modifiers. Default in the base game is 0, and the maximum is 4. **Violent mental breaks are defined as: Berserk, Sadistic Rage, Murderous Rage, Slaughterer, Social Fighting and all Tantrums. None of these stat buffs apply to children, only adults. Additionally, humanoid raids have 50% fewer women with the default settings, meaning that the total gender distribution in a raid will be 75/25 male/female. Gender distribution of defenders at enemy bases is unaffected. Since men have 30% more melee damage, in order to keep melee from becoming the dominant combat method, all adult humanoid pawns also have 30% greater shooting accuracy across the board. As with everything, this is entirely configurable and can be removed if desired (let's be honest, vanilla Rimworld shooting accuracy has always been comically bad). FAQ: Q: Does this make the game harder, or easier? A: It's tough to say. On the one hand, it makes running your colony easier because everyone gets skill learning speed buffs, there are fewer violent mental breaks, you have more ways to keep your colonists happy, and your men are tougher. On the other hand, it does make humanoid raids more difficult because there are more men, who are tougher fighters. Q: If there are fewer women in raids, won't that make them hard to get? A: You will be getting fewer of your women from downed raiders, though all other sources are unaffected. If you really want some women, and are of a particularly barbarian bent, you can form your own raiding party and go pillage/burn someone else's camp. Q: Why aren't there skill buffs for Crafting or Intellectual? A: Those skills are so incredibly broad in scope that I don't think there's much of a gender difference between them overall. Q: Doesn't this force pawns into certain roles? A: The default strength of the buffs is low enough that they are easily outweighed by personal/xenotype traits, as well as even moderate skill levels.
