Combat Medic is a quality‑of‑life mod that saves you from constant micromanagement whenever pawns go down.
When drafted pawns enable the medic toggle, they’ll automatically rush to downed colonists who need urgent care—prioritizing those closest to death (for example, a pawn bleeding out in 2 hours will be treated before one bleeding out in 4).
It’s especially powerful after big battles, when you’ve got multiple downed pawns and no easy way to tell who will die first. Just draft, toggle, and your medics will handle the most critical cases immediately.
The mod also ensures continuous care: After using up their carried medicine, medics instantly switch to bare-handed stabilization without the frustrating vanilla stop-and-search stutter.
No more clicking through colonists to check timers—your medics act fast, smart, and in parallel, giving you more time to focus on survival.
✨ Features
• Toggle appears when pawns are drafted
• Toggle automatically turns OFF when pawns are undrafted
• Medics auto‑assign to downed colonists based on urgency (bleeding rate, lethal injuries, health percent)
• Uses inventory medicine if available, otherwise tends bare‑handed
• Smart assignment system prevents duplicate tending
• Automatically releases assignments if patients recover, die, or become unreachable
• Medics will automatically rush across the map to reach downed colonists who need tending
• Can be safely added or removed from existing saves
🔧 Compatibility
• ✔ Compatible with Combat Extended
• ✔ Works with most other mods — as long as they don’t override drafted pawn tending behavior
• ⚠️ May conflict with Smart Medicine or similar mods that intercept medical job logic
💡 Important Note
• If a downed colonist is restricted to herbal medicine (or lower), and your medic is carrying higher-quality medicine (like industrial or glitterworld), they will not tend the patient due to vanilla medicine restrictions. This is not a bug—it’s how RimWorld handles medical permissions.
➤ To ensure treatment, either adjust the patient’s medicine settings or make sure your medics carry matching medicine.
• If a downed colonist has already been reserved by another pawn (e.g. for rescue), medics will not attempt to tend them—even if they are closer. The reservation system flags the downed pawn as unreachable, causing the medic to remain idle.
➤ To allow immediate tending, cancel the other pawn’s job or wait until the reservation clears.
🎮 USAGE
• Draft your pawns as normal
• Toggle the medic system ON
• Drafted pawns will automatically run to downed colonists who need urgent tending
• They’ll prioritize bleeding out or near‑death pawns first
• Medics use inventory medicine if available, otherwise tend bare‑handed
💡 Notes
• Toggle only appears when pawns are drafted
• Medics will prioritize the most urgent patients first
• Designed for clarity, performance, and player control
Future plans: carrying downed pawns to beds and extending medic logic to pets. Feedback welcome!
[Retired Notice]
This mod is no longer supported. I’ve decided to step away from modding and return to playing the game purely for fun.
The files will remain here as-is for anyone who still wants to use them, but there will be no further updates or support.
Thanks to everyone who supported this mod, whether through feedback, playtime, or simple encouragement—it meant a lot.
I’m tired of dealing with name-calling and insults over the AI-generated thumbnail, and I don’t have the time or energy to keep fighting that battle.
Love you all, goodbye.
