During my time playing RimWorld, I’ve often found myself caught between frustration and amusement at Tynan’s “endgame” gear balancing—like the heavy speed penalty on cataphract armor, the deliberately short range of charge rifles, and the oddly high bandwidth requirements of certain mechanoids.
So I made this mod. It expands the late-game content and adds new mechanoid bosses. Now you can challenge entirely new enemies, unlock powerful weapons and gear, and even field combat mechanoids of your own. Plus, there are hand-drawn (cough) custom textures.
In the most recent update, I’ve also added a unique, recruitable boss as the mod’s finale. Do your best to defeat her! She comes with her own mechanics and abilities, along with an affection system and dialogue mini-game to flesh out her character and the mod’s story.
The mod is still in testing, with plenty of rough edges, but it’s playable. I’ll continue updating and completing the remaining content. If you have any feedback on numbers or crafting costs, feel free to leave a comment—your input can help make this mod better.
This is my first mod, so there may be quite a few imperfections, but I’ll keep polishing it. The textures will also be revamped to match the latest art style.
Q&A
(1) Q: Will this be compatible with mods like Combat Extended or Sparkling Worlds?
A: No. I don’t plan to support CE—sorry CE players, but making it compatible would be very difficult. As for Sparkling Worlds, I won’t be supporting it either; the balance gap is just too large. No disrespect to that mod, but compatibility isn’t in my plans.
(2) Q: Why does your art style look so weird?
A: I’d say it’s just my personal style. Since mods aren’t official content anyway, matching the vanilla style isn’t a must. I’ve also made improvements to make my art feel more at home in the game.
(3) Q: How balanced is the mod? Is it too overpowered or too hard?
A: I’m a vanilla player at heart—I even find some Vanilla Expanded mods a bit too strong. So this mod’s numbers are tuned to feel more like vanilla. As for difficulty, I’m constantly tweaking values. I want the mod to reward you in proportion to the risks you take, not make you powerful with little effort.
(4) Q: How’s compatibility? Can I add this mid-save?
A: Yes, you can. I’ve kept compatibility in mind while coding, and there are no massive system overhauls, so it should be safe and compatible. That said, if you’re using mods that heavily change game mechanics—like CE—issues may arise.
Known issues:
(1) Due to unavoidable reasons, this mod may conflict with other mods that alter control range mechanics, though I’ve added some compatibility workarounds.
(2) Not compatible with TPS Optimizer - Performance [No Longer supported].
(3) Warning: Do not attempt to take control of the boss version of Sigunael. You’ve been warned.
(4) This major update will remove the Scorpion Helmet due to an item ID change. My apologies.
(5) The Vanilla Outposts Expanded mod may cause duplicate pawns for unknown reasons.
(6) Yayo's Combat 3 (Continued) will break my intended balance by increasing enemy armor by 30%. That’s not on my end.
(7) The "Pawnkind Race Diversification" mod prevents the special character Sigonal from spawning for unknown reasons.
Notes:
(1) Enabling [NL] Facial Animation - Experimentals and [NL] Facial Animation - WIP will give Sigunael custom facial features.
(2) Enabling [NL] Realistic Body will give Sigunael a custom NL body type and hairstyle. You can also manually switch to the NL hairstyle in the mod settings.
(3) You can recruit Sigunael directly from the mod settings. If you don’t like the affection system, you can also lock her affection at max in the settings.
(4) If you see Sigunael’s hairstyle appear on other pawns, please let me know.
Note! This mod is currently in beta. Balance is still being worked on. Beta version V0.8.
