1942 Type 650 Tram (No. 651)
Hiroden Type 650 No.651 is a historic streetcar built by Kisha Seizo in 1942. On August 6th, 1945 at 8:15 A.M. car No.651 was near Chuden-Mae station, Hiroshima. When the "Little Boy" bomb detonated, car was just 700 meters away from it. It was derailed and burned but sturdy construction saved it without any apparent damage. Streetcar No.651 was put back into emergency service within days and now still works as a public transport. No.651 (Sometimes called "Hibaku Densha" which means "A-Bombed") become a symbol of hope and city's reanimation.
