NATAERA LIGHTHOUSE, 1875
(Fictional)
The collection of volcanic islands often referred to as the "Ring of Fire" were well known to be a hazard to shipping, and indeed several vessels were destroyed by their rocks, there was mixed opinions as to whether a lighthouse was really necessary in that area. A combination of frequent earthquakes, their remote location, and the relatively sparse shipping traffic led many to believe that constructing and maintaining one just wasn't worth the effort.
Then the RMS Apollo shifted opinions. Sailing in a massive, dense fog patch, she was completely lost in the mist and wound up running hard aground. However she only hit a shallow sandbar and remained undamaged, and was freed with the aid of tugs and the tide.
Although the incident didn't lead to a wreck or any fatalities it demonstrated that even the large and advanced ships of the day were still vulnerable to those isles despite few ever intentionally going near them.
The Nataera Lighthouse, named after the legendary lost city said to be sunken under those waters, had its construction wrapped up and commissioning in 1875. Its thick brick walls and modest size were such to withstand earthquakes, though the resulting space made the interior layout somewhat awkward. Overall, it did the job and held up well.

EXTRA NOTES
This was originally only built as a thumbnail build for the lighthouse build competition that took place in my server in October 2024, but seeing how well it (externally, at least) turned out, it seemed a shame to just let it collect dust in my saves.
The interiors are mostly as they were as originally built. The reason I even added any interior at all was that I hoped they'd be visible in the thumbnail screenshot (they weren't). The only changes made was fitting out the attic (including the bedroom) which was previously completely empty, as well as adding some boxes in the tower. There's also a handful a technical changes so it's not just nonfunctional eye candy.
The tower part is based off of the Hoylake High Lighthouse, and the rest of the structure was inspired by a model.

I've already noted this a while ago in my discord server, but I'll mention it here too for everyone else. Artemis and Apollo weren't the only reason I've barely been uploading for a while. This year's been pretty hard on me. I don't want to go into details, but what's relevant here is that I'm now no longer able to dedicate nearly as much time to Stormworks as I used to. I do intend to keep building and uploading stuff, however the uploads won't be as frequent, and builds won't be as large. I want to do more smaller builds like these are so I can at least put out new stuff at a somewhat decent rate, instead of focusing all of my limited free time to a single massive project.
I hope you're all okay with that, as I really don't have any other choice.
Merry Christmas, and happy new year <3
