The M.V. Wilhelm Gustloff was a German navy transport ship. 1937-1945. The ship serverd multiple uses. for example, it was used as a hospital ship for a short time. in 1940 it docked in Poland. in 1945 East prussia and west prussia was being evacuated and the soviets could attack soon. 10,000 refugees had boarded wilhelm gustloff to escape the soviets on january 30, 1945. at a little bit before midnight The S-13 soviet submarine spotted the MV Wilhelm gustloff and fired 3 torpedos at the ship, all 3 hit and the ship sank in an estamated 45 minuets before plunging into the baltic sea. It was estamated that 7,000 to 9,000 people died. 1,500 died on Titanic. The wilhelm gustloff was the worst maritime disaster in history.
