[!WIP!] S.S. Coney Island
Still W.I.P for the next (errr.. Multiple) days. She's accomplished most of the additions I'd like to add. Christmas decorations will come around again next December.
Now With Weather Deck Barriers!

Special Thanks to McSteve89 for helping with the wheelhouse pillars and a couple XML details around the boat. Likewise, thanks to Mr Lennyn for their chess MC located in the fwd crew space, and Nova for their Analog Plotting Chart.
Currently requries an XML-enlarged workbench.
Now onto the meat and potatoes:
(Fictional)
Built in 1923 for exporting company products, the Hoboken Towing & Ironworks Company would use it's Olsen Bay Shipyard towards it's own assets to construct a brand new package freighter. With all-aft machinery, she sports a large amount of freight space for her size, split across two decks.
Info & Features:
- Length: 47.0m Length Overall, 9.75m Beam, 4.25m Draft (Aft).
- Machinery: 3 Cylinder Triple Expansion Engine, 3 Furnace Scotch Boiler. Top Speed: 15 Knts.
- [Exp, subject to removal] Steam Heating. Activated Via Central Boiler Furnace.
- Side Freight Doors (Opened Internally)
- Boarding Ramps
- Lifeboat and Motorboat
- Crow's Nest.
To Operate:
1. Make your way down to the boiler room. Access via lower engine room or aft crew quarters.
2. Open the Furnace Door to light the firebox.
3. Open the Main Damper for operating the ship's powerplant. For steam heating, turn the Central Damper as desired. The hotter the... Hotter? Figures. Note: The ship's speed is affected by how hot the boiler (and therefore the main damper) is. There is no autocoaler, and frankly there never will be. Put your friends to indentured servitude please.
4. Make your way to the upper engine room. Don't forget to open the steam valve to the Dynamo Engine for electrical power. Most other auxiliaries are set to run by default, not including the ballast and fire pump.
5. Operate the main engine via the nearby engine controls. Note: No Bridge Control At This Time. Refer to the last setence of #3.
6. Steer the ship from the wheelhouse, or the auxiliary steering position found on the stern.
Notes:
- Inspired by 1908 Seattle-Built cargo ship Northland (Later Admiral Nicholson). Otherwise unrelated. I still don't know where her navigations lights would've been.
- The steam heating is something I'm so-so with. It works right now, but visually it is rather ugly and may be replaced later with electric heaters.
- If there's something you think this boat could use, do let me know! Now is the best time for suggesting stuff while I'm still nailing down things in a vain effort to prevent this ship from falling apart upon the latter half of Christmas Day.
- Better Photos Soon(tm)
