HISTORY / LORE
Built in 1923 by W Harlem of Newcastle for their subsidiary company, the Harlem Line, also of Newcastle, the SS Raccoon came in at 45.75 Meters (150 Feet) long, she had a beam of 7.25 Meters (23 Feet), and a height of 17.25 Meters (56 Feet). The Raccoon served for 19 years carrying cargo across the coastlines of many european countries until 1942 when she would sink.
On April 3rd, 1942, while on a voyage from Fleetwood to Belfast with a cargo of corn, the Raccoon struck a mine, and a combination of the explosion damage and heavy waves caused her to capsize and sink quickly. There was reportedly no distress call; however, despite that, 2 men, the Cook, John Harriet, and the 1st Assistant Engineer, Thomas Warley, managed to survive after drifting in the Raccoon’s Carley raft for an estimated 10 hours. They came ashore near Togher, Ireland, around 3 AM on April 4th, 1942. They were the only survivors.
HOW TO MOVE
Use the Throttle Lever on the starboard bridge wing labled "Telegraph"
HOW TO SINK
There is a lockable button in the Captain & Officer's Cabin
NOTICE: I recommend opening the door that leads from the deck to the crew bunks in the Forecastle before clicking the magic button. The ship can sink without this door being open however it makes the ship sink slightly quicker and more realistically
