Introduction:
The Avion KB-33 Stratowarrior is an air refuel tanker, converted from the B-33 Stratowarrior bomber. This tanker replaces the bomb bay and hardpoints with a larger internal fuselage tank and fixed external fuel tanks, for a total of 25000 L of fuel capacity. Two drogue basket pods are installed to enable simultaneous refueling operations. This tanker lacks guidance systems and hardpoint stores to minimize performance impact, only keeping the radar and radar detector for navigation and self defense.

Startup/Takeoff
(1) On the right panel, turn on the BATT switch, then turn on the L ENG ON AND R ENG ON switches
(2) Close the canopy, the front button will close both cockpits.
(3) Wait till engines reach idle at about 14% N1 otherwise the plane may yaw hard when it begins rolling.
(4) Disable the parking brake and use the rudder to steer during taxi
(5) Set throttle to max power (0.50) for takeoff
(6) Retract landing gear and flaps once in flight
Landing
(1) Set throttle to maintain 110-120 knots (approx. 10.0)
(2) Once speed is established, lower the gear and flaps
(3) Once the flaps are down, the aircraft will suddenly gain lift, reduce throttle power to about 8.0
(4) Once the speed is settled, pull a bit more throttle back to about 6.5-7.5
(5) The aircraft should be descending with a level nose, but have enough pitch control to flare the nose to land.
(6) Add throttle if the aircraft gets too slow and the nose starts falling
Air Refueling
(1) Turn on the Left, Right or both Drogue Extend switches to extend the refueling baskets. This should be done early as the baskets are very slow to deploy and retract.
(2) Set an appropriate speed that allows the refueling aircraft to catch up (160-200 knots should usually work)
(3) For slower refuel operations below 140 knots, extend flaps and trim to help keep level.
(4) Level off aircraft, enable stabilization with key 1 and trim the tanker for stable, level flight.
(5) Direct the refueling aircraft to form up a safe distance abeam the tanker's left or right wing to establish speed and comfortable trim settings.
(6) When both aircraft are ready, direct the refueling aircraft to line up below and behind the basket, with a little extra speed to come forward and stick the probe in the basket.
(7) With successful contact, the refuel pod light will turn green to indicate fuel is flowing.
(8) When full, the refueling aircraft will see a red light on the pod, if they cannot disconnect, use the Left/Right Drogue Disconnect buttons to manually release the hose. Retract drogues when refueling is no longer needed.
