Story: The MV Prince Edward was a diesel-electric Paddle wheeler constructed in the late 1920s. She was orignally a ferry. Her interior contained on the first floor a passenger area with a bar infront and the engine room in the back. On the second floor she had the Wheel house and deckhouse and behind that a small lounge. She served as a ferry until 1957 when she was retired and put up for sale. James Edward Whitmore, a wealthy business man bought her and turned her into a private yacht, refitting her interiors. Mr. Whitmore would use the vessel to host parties, private cruises or just for personal enjoyement. Mr. Whitmore passed away in 1974, leaving the fate of the vessel vague as it wasn't stated properly in the will. This lead to a family dispute which ended in a tragic incident. After this incident Prince Edward was seized by the goverment and sold in a local auction, she would never sail again. In the years following, she would sit abandoned, laid up in Perry sound, Lake Huron. Several ideas floated around like turning her into a restaurant, excursion ship or preservation although non came to fruition. In 1982 her lease to be docked in Perry Sound harbor ended and she was moved to a body of water outside the area, next to and island. In 1985 her bilge pipe burst, causing her to flood and she sank, ending the story of this little vessel.
