Alterra Guns (Combat Extended only)
This mod is not endorsed by the Combat Extended team. What this mod does: adds weapons of course! A decent amount right now, but what it also does is add a whole trove of new, realistically thought-out-ish cartridges with about… 10? 12 ammo types each? I don’t know. “Why?” “That seems so overpowered!” You may decry, but so is the character editor and most gun mods out there, this is the logic of fun over balance. The weapons and ammo are hard to get, so it’s like a little achievement when you do. As for “lore”, these weapons are stellarian weapons, spacer. So, they are more powerful than traditional arms, with most if not all on the level of charged weapons. That being said, if you want to learn more, watch out for the tips about lore and if you’re really interested, check out the item descriptions and maybe look in the mod’s files. Lore nerds will love it.
What IS Alterra? Like Subnautica? Nay, my friend, it is a goddess, and a garden. This is but merely the fifth generation of that garden, and thus fallow plot borne a galaxy vastly stretching before you. In this galaxy, Earth fell, to beasts, or something far more unknowable, that devoured her too fast to grieve. The World Movers sent you on an Exodus across the Milky Way… and beyond. For dozens of millions of years, the arkships carried the seeds of Earth and humanity to a new home, new opportunities, and a new frontier. But as I always say, where there are opportunities, exploitation inevitably follows. When you arrived, Andromeda was not dead, but sick. Forerunner civilizations did not greet you, but the seeds of something greater did. Where mirrors of man and victims to their exploitation were plenty, no one seemed fit to fight back. So survival became a consolation for the diasporic conquerors and a commodity for those unlike. More lies beyond the veil, something indescribable, something of boundless protection, something in the depths of one's own mind and something… wicked. Who will you be in Andromeda? Who will remember you? How will you survive? I know the fate of many. Perhaps all. I know how everyone’s story ends. Yet the fate of this galaxy cannot be predicted. Not even by me.

---- 0.2.0 ----
The great normalization update. Almost exclusively bug fixes and normalization of behind the scenes stuff. Nothing much.
---- 0.3.0 ----
New content update. Two new guns and some infrastructure for future expansion. Side note, this was so tedious for no reason, but regardless, the new ammo types for Alterra's LIPC laser weapons and Acerdeine Security Solutions plasma-assisted mass drivers are finished, more cartridges to be added in the future.
---- 0.4.0 ----
New content update, adding both the Prism and changing some stuff under the hood. A new system for Acerdeine's mass drivers means different ammo type variants used affect things other than just projectile type utilizing CE's underbarrel system. Unfortunately, this means that both ammo types can be used at the same time, both loaded, which isn't contextually possible, but I can't find a fix for that yet.
--- 0.5.0 ----
Lot of stuff tbh, like 5 new guns, a retexture of the Nova battle rifle, and the new cartridge for the Scorpio. We're at 20 guns now, it's cool
If you came here for nice, balanced weapons then boy are you sorely mistaken, friend. They're not pretty (in the wise words of my AG teacher "I'm no artist"), but deeply developed with a regular smorgasbord of exotic ammo types and, in the future, a wide variety of exotic weapon types never before seen on the Rim. But this, along with any other project I undertake is deeply loved and I am infinitely passionate about it. Please, if you look at any part of this mod and go "hm, that's pretty interesting", consider checking out the compendium for my developing TTRPG Alterra Fifth Edition.
