Sawyer Island Railways 2-8-4t Y1 class Locomotiv

History: Sawyer Island Railway's Y1 class were built to tackle coal and freight up the steep gradients of the sawyer mountains. 12 members of the class were built in two batches (first batch producing 7 and the last producing 5). The Y1s were prone to running heavy on water, needing to stop more often than other engines to refill their tanks. Some of the class were later allocated to banking duties on the gradient. Three members prevailed to preservation.
