In vanilla RimWorld, when a pawn replaces a natural limb (like an arm or leg) with a bionic one, the replaced body part and all its child parts (hand, fingers, etc.) are marked as missing. As a result, the total body coverage decreases. This unintentionally increases the hit chance for other vital organs such as the brain or heart. In extreme cases, installing more bionic parts actually makes your pawn more likely to take fatal hits! This mod fixes that issue. It adjusts how RimWorld determines the body part hit during damage calculation by patching the GetRandomNotMissingPart function through Harmony. With this change, using artificial or bionic parts no longer raises the probability of vital hits. -- ※In Details※ Neutralizes the Coverage Issue Caused by Archotech/ Bionic Parts Vanilla Behavior: Using bionic or archotech parts removes natural limbs → missing body parts appear → increases the chance of hits landing on the torso or other vital organs. With This Mod: When a missing part is hit → its parent part takes the damage instead. Example: Installing an archotech arm removes all parts below the shoulder → if an attack targets the missing hand or fingers → the archotech arm is hit instead. So instead of “no arm = higher chance of your torso exploding,” the hit is redirected safely (if the torso is the parent, the selection rerolls across all parts). -- ※Why This Mod Exists※ In vanilla RimWorld, replacing limbs with bionic/archotech parts slightly skews hit probability. A typical pawn’s overall body coverage might be around 1/60, while a pawn with multiple bionic limbs could have around 1/40. This means the hit chance on critical small parts (like the brain) increases from 1.6% to about 2.5%, roughly a 1.5× higher chance of fatal hits. -- ※Caution※ This mod will not be compatible with other mods that manually determine hit locations (such as Combat Extended).
