Stoehr class CA, keels originally laid in 1897, with construction of the first 10 completed in 1899, and a later 10 built in 1903. Initially designed for coastal patrols and activity in shallow seas, it was quickly found that it had acceptable seafaring, even in deep water. The entire class of ships was refitted in 1913 with diesel engines and anti-aircraft weapons atop all of the 6 turrets.
The service of the class finally ended in 1930 with the last ships leaving the commission of the Aldian navy, being sold to several countries & organizations where they continued to see service in various capacities, the nameship of the class (originally H.K.S. Stoehr) was sold along it's sisters H.K.S. Nilman & H.K.S. Aiachi to a private security consulting firm.
The firm went bankrupt in 1933 & the ships were repossessed and then stolen from their moorings by "Lee & Wallace & Associates" a pirate organization originating in Australia.
The ships were modified by removing one funnel, adding radar that was stolen from Aldian shipyards, as well as a quad mount anti-aircraft battery, salvaged from damaged ships owned by the LWA. these modifications were later replicated on other Stoehrs in service elsewhere and at great profit to LWA.
The illicit organization faced it's eventual demise in 1947, with the complete capture and / or destruction of assets after an ambush by the Aldian Navy & Air Service in that August.
Aiachi, renamed to "Perley Sweet" was sunk by cannon fire on August 11, 1947.
Nilman, renamed to "Midnight Rider" was sunk on August 15, 1947, after being set alight by a raiding team from the Aldian Navy.
Stoehr, renamed to "The Flaming Frenchman" was completely destroyed on Febuary 1, 1948, after evading formal navies for nearly a year, it was ambushed in the Strait of Skeldale and it's ammunition stores exploded, the number 4 turret was found lodged into the northern beach of Stromberger Island, 4 miles away from where the ambush took place.
The ship represented here is Stoehr, "The Flaming Frenchman" as of her service to LWA in 1944.
I will try to update the changelog whenever I do something significant.
