With the retirement of the "Wolf" class battleships, the unused turrets and cannons were immediately requisitioned by the Army to outfit their new "Harbinger" class monitors. Although entirely unsuited for ship to ship combat, these medium sized ships proved themselves to be the bane of any coastal defenses.
The Ship:
This is a paddle wheel ship driven by a steam-electric drive. Not very fast but extremely maneuverable with minimal armoring. The paddle wheels themselves are split coupling designs, allowing for a larger degree of roll on the ship without affecting the ship's pitch.
Armed with a dual Bertha cannon in a single turret, it can safely destroy most things from a distance (Although good luck hitting anything :P). The cannon uses SPACE to fire and the player must press and hold the Number 1 until the orange light begins flashing in order to begin the reload process. It is advised to NOT move the turret when reloading. I was successfully able to fire off the entire ship's magazine with only a few missed reloads and none of the loading components exploding (It might not sound like much but for me that's an accomplishment).
The ship's engine can be started from the bridge. W/S will advance the throttles together, and the buttons near the throttle will reverse the paddle wheel's rotation. Able to contra rotate paddle wheels, the ship can essentially turn on a dime.
Overall the ship is fairly bare bones, not very well decorated and the hall ways are not equipped with overhead lighting, but it can withstand rough weather well enough, tsunamis not included.
