This is a add-on that allows players to heal by consuming food.
The healing system is global, as it works by checking tags on edible items, but it is mainly focused on the Hungry Europans mod.
The goal of this patch is to give players an incentive to prepare meals even if they are not using the hunger or mood mechanics that Hungry Europans provides as optional features. This makes cooking an alternative way to heal, but not a replacement for other healing methods.
Food provides very general and basic healing; many other types of damage cannot be healed through food.
This mod does not override anything from the Hungry Europans mod, making it stable for future updates.
Be sure to have properly installed Lua for Barotrauma or it won't work!
HOW IT WORKS
• When you eat or drink, you gain regeneration proportional to the type of food or beverage consumed.
• Certain foods provide extra healing to a specific affliction.
Food heals a small amount of general damage plus the specific affliction associated with that item (examples can be seen in the screenshots).
Some foods can have more than one food type. This means they can heal more than one extra affliction, but they can also improve or worsen the overall quality of the healing received.
In general, dishes that take more time and resources to prepare provide greater benefits.
EXTRA MECHANICS
There are two afflictions from the Hungry Europans mod that now provide a very slow and mild passive regeneration of general damage while active:
• Stuffed – gained by eating
• Quenched – gained by drinking tea and other beverages
This way, having food in your stomach is always beneficial, even if hunger debuffs or mood states are disabled.
Many thanks to the authors of the mod this is based upon, Hungry Europans. Without them this wouldn't be possible.
