MÁV M28 "Mazsola"(Raisin) Diesel-Mechanic Locomotive

This is a light replica of the Hungarian MÁV M28 locomotive, for Alistair's locomotive contest

For Mr. Alistair: for the required 26kph pull, pull the throttle up to 1.0, shift through 1-4th gear, lower the throttle to 0.8 for no slip, then shift up to 5th gear and it should reach it. Also make sure the handbrake isnt on.

Design

This is a diesel-mechanic locomotive, meaning the engine power is transmitted mechanically to the wheels via a manual gearbox. Its driving process hs been streamlined a bit, like you dont need to pull the throttle to 0 to change gears like on a real one, mostly because SW and momentum arent friends, and your inputs are fairly limited compared to real life. Still you can experience the cramped interior, the not-so-intuitive gear shifting pattern, and generous wheelslip over 30kph when pulling stock, just like the real ones.

The name "Raisin" comes from the fact that this thing was the smallest standard gauge diesel locomotive in service at the time (1955), and well, raisins are quite small i think you get the picture. It was made for shunting only basically, as its top speed was a whopping 30kph under load.

User Manual

First lets get in the cabin, on the left you see a helm, which is exclusively for the handbrake, which is the only brake in this locomotive. the braking is on axis 2(W/S) and W is more brake, S is less brake. The vehicle spawns at 0.5 brake power, dont forget to release it before you drive off cooking the brakes!

In the front, there are access doors into the engine bay, wherein you can find the fuel port (left side), and the main breaker and chargning port (right side)

On the middle console from top to bottom you will find:

5flip switches for the lights, work lights are the lower white lights, red light is to indicate your back, high beam engages the higher and sightly brighter spot (Only on the side where a worklight is on!) . You can also have both worklights on, to make night shunting easier.

The main throttle (i've connected the wheelslip to automatically pull back on the throttle, if you dont like that just disconnect it)

To the right of the console you will find 2 gear levers for the transmission, a horn below it, and a cheat sheet for the shifting pattern (read it like a book, left to right, down one row... you know how to read probably)

Shifting

First of all on the left of the engine you can find the gearbox MC, and there is an arcade setting if you dont want to memorize this, it makes it so that you can press the up buttons to upshift and the down arrows to downshift, just like a paddle shifter. I do recommend trying the manual shifting though, its quite fun.

Closing thoughts

This was really just me falling down the rabbit-hole of "Lawrie goes Loco" and Squirrels "Realistic Derail Valley" videos just before this little challenge got announced, so i was looking for an odd locomotive to make and basically beat the bare minimum for the entry, but making it fun and unique.
