1. Canoe - tribal one-man boat for quick travels
Pros

2. Fishing canoe - tribal one-man boat for fishing
Pros

  • allows fishing
  • easy to build

Cons

  • fits only one pawn

  • separate research branch

3. Sloop - small versatile ship that is middle ground between Fishing boat and Caravel:

  • requries two pawns to operate
  • fits up to six pawns
  • 700 kg cargo space
  • allows fishing (but inefficient for it)

FAQ

1. Are there any hard incompatibilities?
Everything, that works with Boats, should work fine with this mod. Anything, that breaks Boats, will potentially break this mod.

2. Can this mod break ongoing games?
This mod is based on xml framework provided by Boats. Each large update of the framework can bork ongoing games until this mod catches up with the changes. I strongly recommend to have both Boats and this mod copied and used from local mod folder.

3. Can this mod be added/removed from existing games?
You can safely add this mod to ongoing games (Tribals will need to research Canoe though). Removing is not recommended but should be possible after each and every boat from this mod is destroyed.

4. Will we see more boats in future?
Maybe. I have started to work on this mod just for one ship (Sloop) as I was dissatisfied with a big jump in stats between Fishing Boat and Caravel. Then a few people proposed to create canoes as tribal specific boats, and I did find a niche place for them. Should there be some new role for boats that is not covered and does not break balance too much then I may take a look at it.
